Apartment explosion in Constanța injures one man; five, including three children, hospitalized

An explosion rocked an apartment in Constanța, Romania, on Friday, prompting a significant response from emergency services. The blast originated from a gas cylinder connection within the residence, where two adults and three children were present.

Emergency crews, including ambulance services and SMURD (Mobile Emergency Service for Resuscitation and Extrication), were dispatched to the scene on Cișmelei Street. Fortunately, the explosion did not trigger a fire, according to the "Dobrogea" Inspectorate for Emergency Situations.

The individuals inside the apartment were identified as a 44-year-old man, a 37-year-old woman, and three children aged 2 months, 5 years, and 7 years. The man suffered first-degree burns on his right lower limb. All five occupants were transported to the hospital for necessary medical evaluations and care.

Authorities are investigating the exact cause of the explosion. This incident follows similar gas cylinder explosions in Romania last month and in April, which also resulted in injuries and hospitalizations.
