APC boasts overwhelming strength in Osun governorship race

Nigeria's ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared its formidable political strength in Osun State, likening its advantage to a "trailer facing a keke" ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election. National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda stated that no opposition party, including Governor Ademola Adeleke's Accord, can withstand the caliber of APC leaders being deployed for the election.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Osun State APC Governorship Campaign Council in Abuja, Yilwatda detailed the extensive resources the party is mobilizing. Committee members were carefully selected from the National Assembly, state governors, Federal Executive Council, deputy governors, past and present lawmakers, and key stakeholders, including the business community. Governors from the South-West, South-South, and South-East will each oversee a senatorial district, supported by National Assembly members, state assembly members, and local government chairmen. Governors from the North will also deploy their local government chairmen, councillors, and lawmakers for grassroots campaigns.

Yilwatda described the Osun election as a critical "litmus test" and a "dress rehearsal" for the APC's preparedness for the 2027 general election. "This will be our practice ground. It will be our rehearsal for the political machine we are preparing for 2027," he announced before formally inaugurating the council.

Responding on behalf of the council, Imo State Governor Senator Hope Uzodimma accepted the assignment with humility. He outlined the campaign's focus on listening to the people of Osun, addressing their hopes, earning their confidence, and ultimately convincing them to vote for the APC candidate, Asiwinoodeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO). Uzodimma pledged that the campaign would be issues-based, evidence-driven, and respectful, highlighting the achievements of the APC-led federal government under President Bola Tinubu and its "Renewed Hope Agenda."
