APC chieftain urges Ndigbo to embrace national politics

An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Chief Onyekachi Onyekwere, has called on the Igbo people to shift away from ethnic and confrontational politics. He urged them to embrace national politics by supporting APC candidates to enhance their representation and influence at the federal level.

Onyekwere, a Lagos-based businessman, specifically encouraged the people of Abia State to back the APC governorship candidate, Eric Opia. He described Opia as a young, vibrant industrialist with forward-thinking ideas, highlighting his contributions to community development through investments, job creation, and philanthropy. "He is an industrialist with futuristic views. He deserves an opportunity to completely turn things around in Abia State," Onyekwere stated, adding that Opia's qualities must have been recognized by the APC before his nomination.

The APC chieftain expressed confidence that Opia would defeat the incumbent Governor Alex Otti. He also urged the electorate to support President Bola Tinubu, promoting an "APC all the way" approach in Abia State. "My candid advice to the people of Abia State is to vote Eric Opia and vote President Tinubu. It should be APC all the way," he said.

Furthermore, Onyekwere praised Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma as a capable leader for the APC in the South-East. He announced his mobilization efforts for Uzodimma's senatorial bid, expressing optimism that the governor could become the Senate President in the next political term. Onyekwere appealed to the Igbo community to unite and pursue "central politics" to advance their interests and secure better opportunities for future generations. "My advice to Igbos is for us all to work together. Play a central politics that will help us," he concluded.
