APC forms Osun governorship election campaign council

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has established a National Campaign Council and several sub-committees in preparation for the August 15, 2026, governorship election in Osun State. This strategic move is designed to coordinate the party's national campaign structure and galvanize support for its candidate.

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has been appointed as the chairman of the campaign council. The announcement, made in a statement by APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka, detailed the composition of the council through a notice signed by the party's National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru. Osun State is among the states slated for off-cycle governorship elections this year, intensifying the campaign efforts and strategic planning among major political parties in the South-West region.

Key figures appointed as co-chairmen include Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio, and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas. Ibrahim Kabir Masari, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political and Other Matters, will serve as Deputy Chairman, with Senator Barau I. Jibrin, the Deputy President of the Senate, as the council's secretary.

The council is comprised of a broad spectrum of party leaders, including governors, members of the National Working Committee, principal officers of the National Assembly, ministers, and federal and state legislators. The APC stated that these eminent leaders and stakeholders from across the country will drive the party's campaign towards victory. Additionally, specialized sub-committees have been formed to manage crucial aspects of the campaign, such as election planning, finance, grassroots engagement, and logistics.
