APC group seeks implementation of military pensions board appointment

The All Progressives Congress Initiative for Good Governance (APC-IGG) has lauded President Bola Tinubu's commitment to enhancing transparency and accountability in governance, particularly concerning the administration of military pensions. The group's National President, Musa Tsoken, commended the President's approval of retired Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Adamu's appointment as Chairman of the Military Pensions Board, effective December 4, 2025.

This appointment reflects the administration’s deliberate effort to leverage experienced professionals in advancing the welfare of the nation’s gallant retired military personnel and their families.

Tsoken highlighted that this appointment signifies the administration's strategic effort to utilize experienced professionals to advance the welfare of retired military personnel and their families. The group stressed the importance of enabling AVM Adamu to assume his duties without delay, asserting that his proven expertise in military finance, budgeting, and institutional management would be invaluable to reforming the pension system.

Enabling AVM Adamu to assume office without further delay will allow him to bring his proven expertise to bear on the critical task of reforming pension administration.

Furthermore, the APC-IGG underscored the constitutional obligation of all government bodies to implement presidential appointments and directives promptly and in good faith. They urged the Presidency, the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, and relevant institutions to facilitate a smooth transition process. The group expressed optimism that swift action on this appointment would strengthen governance and improve service delivery to retired service members, signaling Nigeria's maturing democratic institutions.
