APM: Makinde Can Defeat Tinubu in 2027, Faults Presidency’s Criticism

The Allied People’s Movement (APM) has strongly refuted criticisms directed at its 2027 presidential candidate, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State. The party insists that Makinde possesses the necessary support to challenge and potentially defeat President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming general election.

According to APM's National Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Yusuf, recent remarks from the presidency targeting Makinde reveal a growing apprehension about the governor's increasing popularity. The party alleges that the presidency's resort to public attacks, rather than engaging on policy matters, demonstrates its fear of the forthcoming election.

APM views the criticisms from presidential spokesman Daniel Bwala as an attempt to diminish Makinde's political standing. The party maintains that the 2027 presidential contest will primarily be between Makinde and President Tinubu, asserting that Nigerians are actively seeking a change in leadership.

The party further contends that the Tinubu administration lacks substantial achievements to campaign on, alleging widespread dissatisfaction among Nigerians with the government's performance. APM pointed to Governor Makinde's record in Oyo State, citing improvements in the state's economy and its positioning among leading economic hubs in the country. This performance, the party claims, has fueled calls for him to pursue the presidency.

APM expressed confidence that Makinde's economic and governance agenda would resonate with voters, particularly the youth, who are reportedly seeking enhanced economic opportunities and improved governance.
