APM challenges Tinubu to visit local communities, markets

The Allied People’s Movement (APM) has directly challenged President Bola Tinubu to step outside the presidential villa and witness firsthand the realities faced by Nigerians, urging him to visit local communities and markets. The party disputes the president's recent assertions that his administration has stabilized the economy and steered the country away from bankruptcy.

The APM, through its National Publicity Secretary Abubakar Yusuf, labeled the president's claims as "illusory," arguing they starkly contrast with the daily struggles of millions grappling with escalating living costs, persistent insecurity, and economic hardship. The party criticized the president for presenting an "inaccurate picture" to respected religious leaders while the populace endures significant difficulties.

"The APM holds that making such false claims to spiritual leaders of the status of Catholic Bishops, at a time when millions of Nigerian families are sinking deeper into abject poverty and terrorists are having a field day killing, maiming and kidnapping citizens across the country, is the height of contempt for the sensibilities of both the respected bishops and Nigerians in general," the statement read. The party questioned how Nigerians could believe claims of economic recovery when the removal of fuel subsidies has triggered widespread price increases for essentials.

On the security front, the APM accused the administration of failing to take decisive action against terrorism and other violent crimes, asserting that insecurity continues to threaten lives and livelihoods nationwide. The party suggested the administration is engaging in "forum shopping" to project a positive image rather than seeking broader solutions to the nation's pressing challenges.
