Tinubu Is Working Hard to Lose 2027 Election, Says Former Minister Dalung

Former Minister of Sports Solomon Dalung believes President Bola Tinubu is inadvertently working to lose the 2027 presidential election. Dalung, who served under former President Muhammadu Buhari, argued that incumbents often lose not due to stronger opposition, but because they become disconnected from the populace.

In a post on X, Dalung asserted that governments seeking re-election must consistently cultivate public goodwill through policies that improve lives, ensure security, and fulfill campaign promises. He pointed to the current struggles of many Nigerians with rising living costs, unemployment, and insecurity, warning these hardships will significantly influence voting decisions.

Dalung emphasized that "every painful experience creates another silent voter" and "every broken promise recruits another silent opposition member." He cautioned against mistaking political defections and endorsements for genuine public approval, stating that citizens will ultimately judge the administration on their daily realities. Hunger, economic hardship, and hopelessness, he argued, are more potent political forces than any opposition campaign.
