APP remains Imo’s biggest opposition party — lawmaker Ugochinyere

In Imo State, the Action People's Party (APP) stands as the preeminent opposition force, a fact underscored by the recent inauguration of new ward and local government executives. Lawmaker Ugochinyere Ikeagwuonu emphatically declared the APP as the state's biggest opposition, highlighting its robust structure that permeates every level of governance, from wards to the state. This deep-rooted presence, he noted, ensures that the party resonates within families across Imo, built on principles of equity, fairness, and an open-door policy that actively engages the electorate.

In Imo, no other party offers strong opposition apart from the Action People’s Party. The party has the strongest structure from ward to local government to the state. There is no family in Imo that does not have a member of the party. APP is founded on the principle of equity and fairness. We run an open-door policy that endears the electorate to the party.

The APP's significance is further amplified by its substantial representation in the National Assembly, where it holds the second-largest contingent from Imo State. Ikeagwuonu pointed out that the party currently has two representatives out of Imo's ten federal constituencies, a milestone he views as a springboard for capturing more seats in the upcoming 2027 elections. This representation, he asserted, is not merely symbolic but is actively translated into tangible projects and legislative achievements that benefit the constituents.

All our projects will take one month to commission because they are many. We are going to showcase them so that people will know they are ours. We have done a lot in water, sanitation, community outreach and empowerment.
