Aquinas College honours 35 alumni at 75th anniversary

Aquinas College Akure celebrated its 75th anniversary by honoring 35 distinguished alumni for their significant contributions to humanity, the institution, and the alumni association. The awards ceremony was the grand finale of a week-long series of events marking the milestone.

Among the recognized individuals were Dr. Oyedokun Abiodun, former Vice President of the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors; Sola Adewunmi, Worldwide President of ACAOSA; and Prof. Segun Ojo, Chairman of the 75th Anniversary Central Planning Committee. Other notable recipients included Col. Wilson Alade (retd), Felix Fadeni, Major Gen. Adeyemi Adetayo (retd), David Fapohunda, and football coach Adeoye Gbangba, among others.

Dr. Abiodun, speaking on behalf of the awardees, emphasized the need for enhanced collaboration between the alumni association and the college's management. He stated, “It is a distinct honor to receive this recognition from our esteemed association. I am committed to continuing my support. I believe the path to further development lies in a more intentional synergy between our vast alumni network and the current administration.” He stressed that leveraging collective expertise and resources could modernize infrastructure and elevate academic offerings.

Abiodun also encouraged fellow alumni to invest in the current student body, viewing it as the most meaningful way to give back to the institution that shaped them. The anniversary celebrations included legacy project inaugurations, academic competitions, career talks, mentorship sessions, and a novelty football match, underscoring a vibrant connection between the college and its former students.
