Aragua authorities reduce critical structural risk buildings to 15

Authorities in Venezuela's Aragua state have significantly reduced the number of buildings deemed critically structurally unsound. The Aragua State Engineers Association (Ceinar) reported that technical reviews have lowered the count of high-risk structures in Maracay to just 15.

Ceinar President Piero Mora confirmed that 39 properties were reclassified from a 'red' risk level to 'yellow' under the Funvisis evaluation protocol. This reassessment followed a comprehensive examination of 1,189 constructions across the region. Specialists have updated the vulnerability map for affected residences in the municipality.

The specialized census identified 15 residential towers with severe flaws in their main support elements, leading to an absolute prohibition of entry. Ceinar also cautioned property owners against undertaking repairs empirically or without guidance from licensed engineers. Experts noted that hasty fixes for visible cracks can mask deeper damage to columns and support beams. Residents in buildings marked yellow are advised to avoid overnight stays until engineering reports are finalized. The review focused exclusively on residential complexes, with unfinished constructions in Maracay to be assessed later.
