Venezuela expresses solidarity and cooperation with Peru after earthquake in central region

Venezuela has extended its full support and offered cooperation to Peru in the wake of a significant earthquake that struck the central Andean nation. The magnitude 5.1 tremor, followed by a 3.7 aftershock, has left at least six people dead and more than 30 injured in the Junín region.

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Félix Plasencia conveyed his country's "deepest solidarity" with the Peruvian people, government, and victims. In a message posted on X, Plasencia reaffirmed Venezuela's "unwavering commitment to brotherhood and readiness for cooperation" during this difficult time.

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela expresses its deepest solidarity with the Peruvian people, its government and with the victims of the earthquake that occurred in the region of Junín today.

The earthquake, which occurred Saturday night, had its epicenter near Chongos Bajo, a district located approximately 300 kilometers east of Lima. The tremors caused considerable damage to residential buildings, healthcare facilities, and the electrical power grid. Tourist infrastructure also sustained damage. The main quake registered at 9:24 p.m. local time, with the epicenter at a depth of 24 kilometers, followed by the aftershock 17 minutes later.
