Argentina's Industrial Activity Grows 0.9% in June

Argentina's industrial sector experienced a slight growth of 0.9% in June compared to the previous month, according to official data released Friday. This follows a smaller inter-monthly increase of 0.4% recorded in May.

On a year-on-year basis, the manufacturing industrial production index showed a more significant rise of 2.0% in June. This marks an improvement from May, which had registered a 5.7% year-on-year decline.

Despite these monthly gains, the overall picture for the first half of 2026 remains challenging. Industrial activity accumulated a 2.2% decrease during this period. The National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (Indec) reported that eleven of the sixteen industrial branches surveyed experienced year-on-year drops in June. Notable declines were seen in textiles (-24.4%), machinery and equipment (-19.3%), and the automotive industry (-11.5%). Sectors showing year-on-year growth included petroleum refining (+10.1%) and chemical products (+7.9%).
