Armed attack leaves 4 family members dead, one injured in Guanajuato; two were government social program workers

An armed group attacked a family in their home in Valle de Santiago, Guanajuato, Mexico, early Wednesday morning, killing four people and injuring one. The victims, identified as three men and one woman, ranged in age from 15 to 60 years old. Among the deceased were Julio Raúl, 60, and his son Yael, 25, who both served as "Servidores de la Nación" (Servants of the Nation) for the state's Secretariat of Welfare.

The attack occurred around 5:00 a.m. on Solidaridad street in the Morelos neighborhood. Neighbors alerted authorities after hearing gunshots and the cries of a 17-year-old girl who survived the assault. Emergency services responded to the scene, where they found three individuals deceased and one woman with gunshot wounds.

The injured woman was transported to a nearby hospital but later died from her injuries, according to the State Attorney General's Office. Forensic experts from the FGE collected the bodies for autopsies. The Specialized Unit for Homicide Investigation has launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the individuals responsible for the attack, who fled the scene.
