Armed man detained at Trump golf course

A 38-year-old man, identified as Jeanine John Taele from Downey, California, was apprehended at the Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes. Federal agents in plain clothes observed him walking the grounds, taking photos and videos, and seemingly monitoring security activities on Sunday afternoon.

During the arrest, officers discovered a 16-round magazine of hollow-point ammunition in the suspect's pants pocket. A subsequent search of his car revealed a loaded pistol with a round in the chamber, along with another full magazine of hollow-point ammunition.

Investigators from the Sheriff's Department and the FBI's counter-terrorism division later executed a search warrant at Taele's residence. There, they found an assault rifle, a pistol, a bulletproof vest, high-capacity magazines, ammunition, two radios, and several notebooks containing what authorities described as "suspicious entries."

Prosecutors in Los Angeles County are expected to decide on charges against Taele after reviewing the case materials. The incident occurs as Donald Trump faces increased security concerns during his 2024 presidential campaign, with multiple threats reported against him.
