Artist watches live as burglar attempts home invasion in Sounio

Artist Vangelis Gliatis witnessed a would-be burglar attempting to break into his home in Sounio, Greece, through live security camera footage. The intruder, equipped with a crowbar and wearing a headlamp, approached the property unaware he was being monitored in real-time.

As you saw, he was relaxed, with the headlamp on. He says 'we are alone, it's deserted, let's go in.' I have installed advanced security systems. Before the guy could even approach my house, about 30 meters away, he alerted me and the signal reception center silently. We entered around 5:00 AM and watched his movements.

Gliatis, who has installed advanced security systems, received an alert when the suspect was about 30 meters from the house. He and his security monitoring center observed the suspect's movements. As the burglar began trying to force open a door, Gliatis remotely switched on the house lights and used a public address system to confront the intruder.

The sudden activation of lights and the disembodied voice startled the suspect, who fled the scene in a vehicle. Although the burglar managed to damage the door, he was unable to gain entry into the residence. The security cameras captured images of the suspect's vehicle, and the details were handed over to the police.

This incident marks the fifth time Gliatis has been a victim of burglary in the last five years. Previous break-ins at his home have resulted in the theft of items such as photovoltaic system batteries and even cooking oil. Police have reportedly identified a suspect residing in the Vyronas area, located within four hours of the incident.
