Ascent League: Recoleta Downs Rangers 4-2, Nearing Playoff Spots

Deportes Recoleta deepened Rangers' struggles in the Chilean Ascent League, securing a 4-2 victory at the Estadio Municipal de La Pintana. The win propelled Recoleta closer to the playoff positions, while Rangers remain firmly rooted at the bottom of the table.

The match was a back-and-forth affair. Carlos González opened the scoring for Recoleta in the 8th minute. Rangers had a chance to equalize when Ignacio Mesías missed a penalty in the 25th minute, but Junior Arias managed to score the equalizer just before halftime. In the second half, Germán Estigarribia put Recoleta back in front, only for Lautaro Rigazzi to level the score again for Rangers.

However, Recoleta secured the win with late goals from Gonzalo Alvarez in the 85th minute and a penalty converted by Felipe Flores in stoppage time. This crucial victory lifts Deportes Recoleta to tenth place in the league standings with 26 points. In contrast, Rangers de Talca continues to struggle, remaining in last place with only six points. Their next match is at home against Magallanes on Saturday, August 15th.
