Asfura congratulates Colombia on its independence and highlights friendship ties with Honduras

Tegucigalpa, Honduras - Honduran President Nasry 'Tito' Asfura extended congratulations to Colombia on Monday, marking the 216th anniversary of its Independence Day. The president emphasized the deep-rooted "ties of friendship, history, and cooperation" that connect the two Latin American nations.

In a message shared on the social platform X, Asfura conveyed his felicitations to the Colombian people. He stated that this significant date serves as a reminder of a nation's "value" in choosing liberty, democracy, and the pursuit of a hopeful future. The Honduran leader underscored that both Colombia and Honduras "share profound ties of friendship, history, and cooperation."

President Asfura affirmed his government's commitment to further strengthening these bilateral relations, based on mutual respect and a shared vision for progress. He conveyed his hope that the independence celebrations would "renew national pride and reaffirm the commitment to peace, prosperity, and the well-being of all Colombians."

Colombia celebrated its Independence Day with a military parade. This event marked a significant occasion as it was presided over for the final time by outgoing President Gustavo Petro, whose term concludes on August 7.
