ASSE opens tender for $36 million Hospital of the Costa in Atlántida

Uruguay’s state health provider has opened the tender for a new Hospital of the Costa in Atlántida, a project authorities announced in November 2025 and valued at up to $36 million including taxes.

The contract uses an integrated turnkey model at a global price. The winning bidder will handle the design, executive plans, full construction, hospital equipment, start-up and provisional handover. ASSE set a maximum period of 10 months for the entire process, with work expected to begin on the business day after the construction permit period ends in January 2027.

The hospital will be a Category II facility and the central hub of the care network serving Ciudad de la Costa and Costa de Oro. According to sources at Uruguay’s Ministry of Public Health, it will have 60 moderate-care beds: 30 for adult medicine, 20 for mental health and 10 for pediatrics.

Its equipment will include a magnetic resonance scanner of 1.5 Tesla or more, a 64-slice or higher multislice CT scanner, digital mammography, radiology and several types of ultrasound. The facility will also provide outpatient and day surgery, procedure rooms and endoscopy services. The project will not include an intensive care unit.
