Asunción streets to close for 489th anniversary celebrations

Asunción is gearing up to celebrate its 489th anniversary with a series of events, including a military parade and the AsuFest.

To accommodate these festivities on Saturday, August 15, the Municipalidad de Asunción has announced temporary street and avenue closures across the capital. These closures will affect traffic flow at different times and in various sectors of the city, prompting a call for drivers to be aware of detours and plan their journeys accordingly.

The Costanera Norte, specifically Avenida José Asunción Flores, will be closed from 6:00 AM for a military parade. Later, from 5:00 PM until 1:00 AM on Sunday, another section of Costanera Norte, from General Santos to Río Ypané, will also be inaccessible.

Calle Palma will experience significant closures. From 7:00 AM to 2:00 AM on Sunday, the section between 15 de Agosto and O’Leary will be shut for the Palma Vy’a event. Additionally, from 7:00 AM, closures will extend from 14 de Mayo to México, impacting intersections along this stretch. Calle Estrella will also see temporary closures between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM in the segment from 14 de Mayo to Paraguarí.

These measures are part of the operational plan to ensure the smooth running of the anniversary celebrations, aiming to minimize inconvenience for residents and visitors while facilitating the planned activities.
