ASUS ROG Phone 10 Specs Leaked Via Engineering Firmware, Device Won't Be Released

Details of the unreleased ASUS ROG Phone 10 series have emerged online, thanks to leaked engineering firmware. The specifications offer a glimpse into what the gaming-focused smartphone line might have offered before ASUS shifted its strategic focus away from mobile devices.

ASUS announced earlier this year that it would be exiting the smartphone market to concentrate on AI products. This decision meant the discontinuation of its ROG Phone and Zenfone lines. However, the leaked firmware suggests that development on the ROG Phone 10 series was already underway prior to this strategic pivot.

The leaked information, obtained by Notebookcheck from an engineering prototype, reveals internal codenames "Boston" for two models sharing the AI2601 model number. The firmware details include camera setups, processor information, and connectivity standards.

Reportedly, the ROG Phone 10 series was slated to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. It was also expected to support Sub-6GHz 5G networks, UFS 4.0 storage, LPDDR5X memory, and Wi-Fi 7, utilizing Qualcomm's WCN7750 wireless chip. Camera specifications show potential upgrades for the ROG Phone 10 Pro, with a 50-megapixel main sensor from OmniVision (OV50Q) offering a larger 1/1.3-inch size for improved light intake. However, the standard ROG Phone 10 might see a downgrade in its main camera sensor, moving from a Sony Lytia 700 to a Sony IMX766. The leaked specs also detail ultra-wide, telephoto, and front-facing camera configurations for both models. It is important to note that these specifications are derived from prototype firmware and have not been officially confirmed by ASUS.
