At 21, she has a $1.1 billion fortune: Meet the world’s youngest female billionaire

Amelie Voigt Trejes became the world’s youngest billionaire at the age of 21, according to Forbes’ March 2026 report. Her estimated fortune is $1.1 billion, built on her family’s significant stake in WEG, one of Brazil’s largest electrical-equipment manufacturers.

Voigt Trejes narrowly overtook Germany’s Johannes von Baumbach, an heir to the family that controls pharmaceutical group Boehringer Ingelheim. The difference between them was only a few weeks in age.

Her fortune is linked to WEG, founded in 1961 in Jaraguá do Sul, Santa Catarina, by her grandfather Werner Ricardo Voigt, Eggon Joao da Silva and Geraldo Werninghaus. The company has since grown into a multinational with factories in more than 10 countries and annual revenue of about $7 billion.

Voigt Trejes directly owns 5,282,602 WEG shares, equal to about 0.126% of the company’s capital. She also owns 33.33% stakes in two family companies, Cladis Voigt Trejes Administradora and Clica Voigt Administradora. Through those indirect holdings, she controls roughly 106.7 million WEG shares, or about 2.54% of the company.

Despite that ownership, she does not manage WEG, sit on its board or hold an executive position. She belongs to the shareholder group associated with WPA Participações e Serviços, which brings together the founders’ families and owns slightly more than half of WEG. Her twin brothers, Pedro and Felipe Voigt Trejes, are also major shareholders. Forbes valued each of their fortunes at $1.1 billion, while their cousins Dora Voigt de Assis and Lívia Voigt de Assis were listed with fortunes of $1.4 billion each.

Voigt Trejes is one of 35 people under 30 on Forbes’ 2026 billionaire list. Seventeen appeared on the list for the first time, while most inherited their wealth. Forbes said only 12 of the 35 were self-made through their own businesses.
