At Prophet Muhammad's Mawlid, Deputy Interior Minister Bima Reminds Civil Servants of Their Duty

Deputy Interior Minister Bima Arya Sugiarto urged Indonesia's civil servants to treat the commemoration of Mawlid as more than an annual celebration. He called it a reminder to follow Prophet Muhammad's example while carrying out the responsibility of serving the public.

Bima made the remarks at a Mawlid celebration for 1448 AH, or 2026, held on Tuesday, September 8, at the An-Nuur Mosque at the headquarters of the Ministry of Home Affairs in Jakarta. He said the Prophet's example should remain a guide for all people, including civil servants.

Mawlid is certainly not merely an annual celebration. Every time we commemorate Mawlid, we are reminded again of the example of our great leader, Prophet Muhammad.

According to Bima, leadership involves three qualities that rarely operate together: power, charisma and exemplary conduct. He said Prophet Muhammad embodied all three, offering a model for officials in the ministry.

Becoming a minister, deputy minister, director general or anything else has an expiration date. What is eternal is seeking the approval of Allah.

Bima also cautioned civil servants not to make office or material gain their main purpose. Minister, deputy minister, director general or any other position, he said, has an expiration date. What endures, he added, is seeking God's approval.

He expressed hope that the commemoration would strengthen the ministry staff's sincerity as they serve the public, the nation and the state. Ministry Secretary-General Tomsi Tohir, senior officials, religious adviser Ustaz Kasif Heer and representatives of the ministry's Dharma Wanita organization also attended.
