Athens Metro Line 3 Stations to Close Early for Rail Work

Athens Metro passengers on Line 3 should prepare for altered schedules as rail replacement work necessitates earlier station closures. Starting Sunday, July 26, three key stations – Syntagma, Evangelismos, and Megaro Moussikis – will close their doors at 9:40 p.m. on Sundays through Thursdays. This is 2.5 hours earlier than the usual end of service.

The Syntagma station will remain accessible for Line 2 passengers, but service on Line 3 will be significantly impacted. During the work hours, trains will operate only on two separate segments: between Dimotiko Theatro and Monastiraki, and between Ambelokipi and Doukissis Plakentias, with some services extending to the airport. The last trains heading towards the airport will depart Syntagma at 9:31 p.m. and from Doukissis Plakentias at 9:30 p.m.

From tomorrow, Sunday, the stations 'Syntagma' (Line 3), 'Evangelismos', and 'Megaro Moussikis' will close at 9:40 p.m. on Sundays through Thursdays, 2.5 hours earlier than the scheduled end of service.

To mitigate the disruption, the Athens Urban Transport Organization (OASA) is introducing a temporary bus service, line X23. This bus route will connect Monastiraki Metro Station to Ambelokipi Metro Station, running from 9:40 p.m. until the metro's normal closing time on affected nights. The bus will make several stops, including Omonia, Syntagma, Evangelismos, and Megaro Moussikis, providing an alternative for passengers needing to travel between these points.
