Attempted Robbery at Daniel Scioli's Home Thwarted; Two Arrested

An attempted robbery at the residence of Daniel Scioli, Argentina's Secretary of Tourism, Environment, and Sports, was foiled early Wednesday morning. The incident occurred at Scioli's property in the La Ñata neighborhood of Benavídez, Tigre. Security guards, stationed at a nearby post, were alerted by the barking of a dog. Upon checking surveillance cameras, they observed four masked individuals attempting to access the main house.

The quick response of the guards prevented the suspects from carrying out the robbery. One of the arrested individuals is a former member of the provincial security force who had previously served in Scioli's personal detail. Investigators suspect this individual's familiarity with the property, including a hidden button to open the main gate, aided the planning of the attempted heist. This detail was reportedly captured on security footage.

During the confrontation, one of the assailants brandished a firearm. The suspects, who were wearing gloves, masks, and clown masks, retreated and fled through the same gate they entered after their element of surprise was lost. The commotion and shouting reportedly woke Scioli, who was resting inside his residence at the time of the incident. Authorities are now searching for the remaining three individuals involved in the foiled robbery. The vehicle used by the assailants, a white Peugeot 207, was identified, and its registration information led investigators to the former security member.
