Aucas U-19 Pushes Bayern Munich to Penalties in Prestigious Youth Tournament

Sociedad Deportiva Aucas's U-19 team came remarkably close to reaching the final of the prestigious Red&Gold Trophy, an international youth tournament organized by Bayern Munich. The Ecuadorian club ultimately fell to the German giants in a penalty shootout during the semifinals, held at the FC Bayern Campus in Munich on August 6.

Despite the semifinal loss, Aucas's performance underscored the significant development within its youth academy and the positive impact of its international alliance with Bayern Munich. The team had a strong group stage, topping their section after a 0-0 draw with Racing de Montevideo, a 2-0 victory over SV Elversberg, and a 1-0 win against Los Angeles FC.

Their semifinal match against the host team was closely contested, ending in a draw during regulation time, which necessitated a penalty shootout. Bayern Munich proved more effective from the spot, securing their place in the final. Following the loss, Aucas competed for third place against Racing de Montevideo, ultimately finishing the tournament with that position.

The Red&Gold Trophy is part of an initiative by Bayern Munich and LAFC to foster young talent globally. This year's edition featured eight clubs from seven countries across three continents.
