Australian golf prodigy Jessica Bang dies at 18 after brain hemorrhage

The Australian golf community is mourning the loss of Jessica Bang, an 18-year-old rising star who died after suffering a brain hemorrhage. Bang collapsed on August 1 while preparing for a tournament in Thailand and was rushed to a Bangkok hospital for emergency brain surgery.

Despite intensive care for nearly two weeks, Bang passed away on Thursday. She had turned professional in late 2025 and was widely regarded as one of Australia's most promising golfing talents. Earlier this year, she celebrated her first professional victory in only her fifth appearance.

Bang's potential was evident when she won a regional qualifying tournament in February, securing her spot in the Ladies European Tour's NWS Women's Open. Although she did not make the cut at that event, her performance confirmed the high expectations surrounding her career.

The WPGA Tour of Australasia expressed deep sorrow over her passing, calling her an "exceptional young talent" and extending condolences to her family and loved ones.
