Authorities in Mexico capture one of the leaders of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel

Mexican authorities have apprehended ten people, including a high-ranking leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), who allegedly oversaw criminal operations in the states of Nayarit and Tlaxcala. The arrested individual has been identified as José Guadalupe Ahumada Villegas, also known by the alias 'M4'.

Security sources and local media reports indicate that the detainees are linked to a range of serious crimes. These include homicide, kidnapping, extortion, drug trafficking, cargo theft, arms dealing, and the illegal extraction and sale of hydrocarbons. Their alleged affiliation with the CJNG places them within one of Mexico's most powerful criminal organizations.

The operation involved agents from the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), the Secretariat of Citizen Security and Protection (SSPC), and the Attorney General's Office (FGR). In Nayarit, agents executed search warrants at seven properties across the municipalities of Tepic and Xalisco, leading to the capture of the ten individuals. During these searches, authorities confiscated three long firearms, three vehicles, and various mobile phones.

The arrested individuals and the seized items have been transferred to the custody of the appropriate Public Prosecutor's Office. They will undergo further investigation to determine their legal status. This operation follows a previous arrest in Mérida, Yucatán, where Justo Aurelio Rivera Parrazales, a suspected financial operator for the Cártel del Noreste, was detained along with high-value vehicles and assets estimated at over $8.2 million.
