Authorities search home of popular Vietnamese content creator Hải SaPa

Authorities conducted a search of the residence of Vũ Hoàng Hải, widely known by his online moniker Hải SaPa, in Lào Cai province on the evening of August 21. The search took place at his home on D1 Street, Lạc Long Quân, in Lào Cai city.

A local official from Lào Cai ward confirmed the search, stating that law enforcement agencies, including those from the Ministry of Public Security, were present. The ward was invited to witness the search and was responsible for maintaining external security. The specific reasons for the search were not disclosed to the ward officials.

Hải SaPa, originally from Phú Thọ province, gained prominence after graduating from high school. He began his career as a driver serving tourists in Sa Pa and surrounding villages. In 2011, he started posting videos on YouTube, introducing the culture and cuisine of the northwestern mountainous region of Vietnam. His content resonated with viewers, leading to his rise as a popular online personality.

Currently, Hải SaPa's YouTube channel, "SaPa TV," boasts over 1.9 million subscribers. His videos, which often document culinary and cultural experiences across various locations, garner tens of thousands to millions of views. His TikTok channel, "Hải SaPa TV," has amassed over 5.2 million followers and more than 45.6 million likes. On TikTok, he also promotes and sells regional specialties from the northwest, such as dried buffalo meat and khoai sâm noodles.

Rumors suggest Hải SaPa has accumulated substantial wealth. A video posted on his "SaPa TV" channel over two years ago, titled "Singer Ưng Hoàng Phúc surprisingly visits the housewarming party of Hải SaPa TV's dream house," showcased an impressive property, leaving many viewers astonished by the content creator's apparent affluence.
