Autumn and winter: Khaled Nouri orders heightened vigilance

Tunisia’s Interior Minister Khaled Nouri has ordered authorities to maintain a high level of vigilance and readiness for natural hazards during the autumn and winter seasons.

Nouri chaired a working session Thursday at the headquarters of the National Office of Civil Protection. The meeting focused on preventive and operational preparations for possible weather fluctuations during the coming period.

Governors and regional Civil Protection directors from Tunis, Ariana and Ben Arous attended the session. Discussions covered the readiness of the agencies involved, including their staffing and logistical capacity, as well as ways to improve coordination among responders.

Participants also reviewed preventive measures and operational arrangements for rapid and effective interventions during severe weather or other natural emergencies. Nouri instructed all relevant structures to remain permanently alert and to update their intervention and rescue plans.

The minister said continuous preparation should strengthen emergency services’ response capacity, protect lives and property, and limit the effects of possible natural hazards in the coming months.
