Awaiting MEC authorization to repair a school in Itacurubí del Rosario

The Basic School No. 1762 Wilhelm M. Nelissen Von Haken in Itacurubí del Rosario is awaiting authorization from the Ministry of Education and Sciences (MEC) to repair its roof, which was severely damaged by strong winds last Saturday. The incident occurred midday, destroying a significant portion of the roof covering a six-classroom pavilion.

School officials and parents are urging local and national authorities to expedite the repairs before classes resume after the winter break. The school, which serves students from kindergarten to ninth grade with 90 students attending in morning and afternoon shifts, faces significant disruption if the damaged classrooms cannot be made usable. The director, Professor Severiano García, emphasized that resuming classes in the current condition would severely impact the institution's normal operations due to a lack of sufficient space.

Two classrooms have been closed off, and their furniture has been moved to another location while repairs are pending. Community members are insisting that the infrastructure repair be prioritized to avoid further inconvenience. The Municipal Mayor, Raúl Soria, stated that the municipality is waiting for the MEC's approval to proceed with the necessary interventions. He anticipates that the authorization might be issued within the next one to two days, allowing the municipality to commence the work.
