Aylín Mujica Shares Son's Last Voice Message Before His Death

Actress Aylín Mujica has shared the final voice message from her son Mauro, who passed away at the age of 33 in Barbados. The cuban actress recounted the events in an interview with Telemundo's program "La Mesa Caliente," a week after her son's death.

In the audio recording, Mauro, who worked as a DJ and producer under the artist name MAAHEZ, sought to reassure his mother. He stated that medications for his pneumonia had taken effect. "They say I have, or had, pneumonia, but I already took the antibiotics, the syrup, everything they gave me and I no longer have a cough, I don't feel bad, I feel good, I feel normal, nothing hurts anymore, I'm fine," the young man's voice could be heard saying.

Mujica had previously explained that Mauro was dealing with pneumonia when he decided to travel to Barbados. Although he assured her he was recovering, she received a devastating call hours later. A friend of Mauro's informed her that he had suffered a seizure while playing soccer on the beach. The actress managed to communicate with him via video call as he was being transported by ambulance.

Upon arrival at the hospital, doctors discovered Mauro had a blood clot in his lung and another in his heart. Despite multiple resuscitation attempts, he tragically passed away. Mujica was in Colombia filming "Top Chef VIP" when she learned of the medical emergency and immediately traveled to Barbados, but it was too late.

Accompanied by Mauro's father, Osamu Menéndez, Mujica began the process of repatriating her son's remains to Miami. The process has been slower than anticipated. Mauro's final wish was to be cremated, and his ashes will be transferred once possible. Mujica also recounted moments of distress upon arriving in Barbados, as Mauro's body was initially difficult to locate, being moved between hospitals and a funeral home before being found.

The testimony and the poignant voice message have deeply moved many on social media, with condolences and messages of support pouring in for Mujica. While some criticized her for giving an interview so soon after her son's death, others praised her courage, the evident love for her son, and her strength in continuing forward for her other two children, Alejandro and Violeta.
