aYo Ghana Wins Insurance Award

MTN aYo Insurance has won the Mobile Insurance Leader award for 2026 at the Ghana Insurance Awards. The company faced no competition for the award, according to the report.

The awards ceremony recognized figures and companies described as shaping Ghana’s insurance industry. aYo has operated in Ghana’s mobile insurance market for nine years, offering microinsurance products through airtime or MoMo deductions on MTN.

The company says it has insured more than 8.6 million lives and paid over GH¢44 million in claims to more than 65,000 policyholders and beneficiaries. It currently insures about a quarter of Ghana’s population and about 40% of the country’s adult population.

Its products include life, hospitalisation, funeral and motor insurance. The company said its funeral coverage helps low-income households meet funeral expenses, while hospital cash benefits can cover bills and replace income lost during hospitalization. Its offerings include Recharge with Care, Annual Cover, Family Cover and a pay-as-you-go motor policy.
