Ba Pro wins, QVS U18 out of Deans race

Ba Provincial Freebird Institute has clinched a quarterfinal berth in the Vodafone Deans Under 18 rugby competition, thanks to a dramatic 29-all draw against Queen Victoria School (QVS) in the Western eliminations. The Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union's tie-breaking rule, which awards the win to the team that scores the first try, proved decisive.

Ba Provincial's early try secured them the victory, despite QVS mounting a late surge to level the scores. The Lautoka-based school, QVS, faced further challenges with two yellow cards and a red card during the intense match at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka. This loss means QVS is out of the Deans race, having finished third in the Eastern Zone.

Meanwhile, Ba Provincial's second-place finish in the Western Zone has propelled them into the quarterfinals. The outcome marks a significant disappointment for QVS, a school with a strong rugby tradition, while Ba Provincial celebrates advancing in the prestigious secondary schools rugby tournament.
