Daunakamakama vows strong return

Fiji's Jasmine Daunakamakama has secured a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games, but the 21-year-old boxer views her semifinal loss to reigning champion Michaela Walsh as a crucial stepping stone rather than a setback. Daunakamakama described the experience of competing against Walsh, whom she has long admired, as a privilege and a measure of her personal growth.

Instead of focusing on the defeat, Daunakamakama emphasized the invaluable lessons learned from sharing the ring with an elite athlete. "It was all about my personal growth, being able to push myself to the next level," she stated. She expressed gratitude for the experience and is determined to "work even harder" upon her return to Fiji to come back "even stronger."

Daunakamakama maintained composure during the bout and felt proud of her conduct both inside and outside the ring.
