Babcock University, PMI Nigeria Partner to Boost Students’ Global Employability

Babcock University has partnered with Project Management Institute (PMI) Nigeria to equip its students with globally recognized project management skills, aiming to boost their competitiveness in the international job market. This collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), grants students access to professional development opportunities, certifications, and PMI's extensive global community of project professionals.

The partnership will also foster the establishment of a sustainable PMI student club at Babcock University. It seeks to promote evidence-based project management practices, thought leadership, and regional research. Mrs. Adeola Akande, PMI Africa Head of Community, explained that the initiative will expand student membership across Africa and provide aspiring project professionals with greater access to global certifications. She added that the program will empower students with the capabilities needed to drive innovation, digital transformation, and entrepreneurship.

Prof. Afolarin Ojewole, Vice-Chancellor of Babcock University, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating it aligns with the institution's commitment to developing individuals. PMI Nigeria President, Dr. Gbolahan Oyelakin, called the MoU historic, emphasizing that PMI student clubs offer valuable opportunities for networking, leadership development, and access to professional certification programs.

As part of the agreement, PMI will sponsor an all-expenses-paid trip to Cape Town for one Babcock University student to attend a regional program later this year. This partnership aligns with Babcock University's GRACE mandate, which focuses on producing globally relevant, research-oriented, Adventist-rooted, competent, and entrepreneurial graduates. The university views this collaboration as a significant step toward preparing its students for professional success and expanded opportunities in the global marketplace.
