Bachelor pad blends Bauhaus, Mid-Century, and Maximalist styles

Mohd Firdaus Abdul Razak has transformed his bachelor pad into a distinctive living space by boldly merging several design concepts, including Bauhaus, Mid-Century Modern, Nordic, Medieval, and Maximalism. While many opt for minimalist or modern aesthetics, Firdaus pursued a more daring and artistic approach to express his personality and create a unique environment.

Initially inspired by the clean lines of Muji design, Firdaus's vision evolved as he gradually acquired furniture and accessories. This process led to the amalgamation of various styles, resulting in a home that stands out. He noted that many Western design concepts remain underexplored in Malaysia, prompting him to experiment with bolder, more artistic styles to achieve a unique look that garners praise from visitors.

The renovation, which took between two to three years to complete, involved a total cost estimated between RM10,000 and RM15,000 for furniture and decorative elements. Firdaus acquired items incrementally, aligning with his financial capacity, to realize his vision for a character-filled home.

The living room is a particular highlight, featuring warm lighting from a combination of table and floor lamps that create a cozy and tranquil atmosphere, especially in the evenings. This space is Firdaus's favorite area for relaxation after a long day's work, embodying the unique character he meticulously crafted.
