"Back to Black" by Amy Winehouse gets special 20th-anniversary edition

To commemorate the 20th anniversary of Amy Winehouse's seminal album "Back to Black," Universal Music and Island Records are set to release a special reissue. This expanded edition, arriving on October 23, 2026, promises fans a deep dive into the album's creation and Winehouse's artistry.

The reissue will feature a wealth of previously unheard material, including unreleased demo recordings, scarce B-side tracks, and a complete recording of Winehouse's 2007 performance at Amsterdam's Paradiso venue. Additionally, the collection will incorporate new photographs by Miša Richter and Alex Lake, alongside fresh liner notes from producers Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi, as well as insights from Winehouse's friends. Among the newly shared content is an intimate, stripped-down demo of "Tears Dry (Alternative Demo)," released as a preview of the upcoming reissue.

Released in 2006, "Back to Black" propelled Winehouse to international stardom, earning widespread critical acclaim and commercial success. The album topped charts in the UK, becoming the best-selling album of 2007, and has since sold over 4.5 million copies, achieving 15-times platinum status. In the U.S., it debuted at number seven on the Billboard 200 and later climbed to number two. The album's impact was further cemented by Winehouse's five Grammy Award wins, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year for "Rehab," alongside awards for Best Pop Vocal Album, Best New Artist, and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
