Balykchy-Kochkor railway section in Kyrgyzstan nearing completion

The Balykchy-Kochkor section of the railway in Kyrgyzstan is in its final stages of construction, marking a significant step in the country's infrastructure development. The project, which began in 2022 under the directive of President Sadyr Japarov, is set to enhance connectivity between important regions.

President Japarov officially launched the construction of the Balykchy-Kochkor-Kara-Keche railway line three years ago. The initial phase of this ambitious project focused on the 63-kilometer stretch between Balykchy and Kochkor. By August 2022, reports indicated that this segment was already 70 percent complete, signaling steady progress.

In addition to the railway line itself, a modern, two-story railway station is being erected in Kochkor. This new facility is expected to serve as a key transportation hub, modernizing the region's rail infrastructure and improving passenger services.

The overall development aims to bolster trade and transportation links within Kyrgyzstan, potentially opening up new economic opportunities and facilitating easier movement of goods and people.
