Banco Azteca donates over 4 million pesos to Mexican Red Cross

Banco Azteca and Grupo Salinas have contributed over 4 million pesos to the Mexican Red Cross, bolstering the humanitarian organization's efforts during the 2026 National Collection. The donation is intended to enhance the Red Cross's ability to respond to emergencies and assist vulnerable populations throughout Mexico.

The handover ceremony took place on June 9 at the Mexican Red Cross national headquarters in Mexico City. Attendees included Gabriel Saba, national vice president of the Mexican Red Cross; Alejandro Valenzuela, president of the board of Banco Azteca and Azteca Servicios Financieros; Tonatiuh Rodríguez, CEO of Banco Azteca and Azteca Servicios Financieros; Alejandro Muguerza, national director of Resource Mobilization for the Red Cross; Adriana de la Puente, director of Social Responsibility at Grupo Salinas; and Antonio Domínguez, director of Fundación Azteca.

During the event, participants acknowledged the Mexican Red Cross's enduring legacy of providing selfless humanitarian aid for over a century. Adriana de la Puente shared her personal experience as a volunteer, highlighting the crucial role of collaborators in enabling the organization's work. Antonio Domínguez praised the Red Cross as an example of a strong civil society and recognized the institutional alliance that has enabled joint efforts to expand humanitarian assistance nationwide.

Alejandro Valenzuela symbolically presented the check, expressing gratitude for Ricardo Salinas Pliego's support and underscoring the importance of strengthening an institution with a proven commitment to Mexicans. He noted that the trust and credibility built by the Mexican Red Cross over its 116 years have been vital to consolidating the project. Valenzuela also acknowledged the collective effort of collaborators, clients, suppliers, and volunteers who made the fundraising success possible. "When help is needed, there is no more solidary people than the Mexican people," he stated, referencing the Red Cross's consistent presence during emergencies throughout its history.
