Bandung Seals Videotron After 10 Trees Felled for Obstruction

The Bandung City Government has sealed a videotron at Padel Club Six Nine on Jalan L.L.R.E. Martadinata, commonly known as Jalan Riau. This action follows a viral investigation into the felling of 10 trees along the street, which authorities linked to the videotron's installation.

According to Bambang Sukardi, Head of the Bandung City Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), the sealing demonstrates the government's firm commitment to enforcing regulations and protecting the environment. An investigation report (BAP) indicated a connection between the tree felling and the videotron, which lacked an Advertising Operation Permit (IPR). The tree felling itself contravened Bandung City Regional Regulation Number 3 of 2026.

Under the regulation, the felling of 10 trees incurs sanctions requiring the planting of 100 replacement trees and an administrative fine of IDR 100 million. Sukardi stated that the perpetrators admitted responsibility, believing the trees blocked the videotron's visibility, but the investigation will continue to identify any other involved parties.

Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan had previously gone viral for his strong reaction to the tree felling. He ordered an investigation, suspecting a link to the padel court facility. Farhan noted that the case had escalated from a minor administrative violation to a potential criminal offense, prompting him to halt the initial process and escalate the handling on July 30.

The sealing specifically targeted the videotron due to its permit issues. The padel court itself was cleared to continue operations as its permits were confirmed to be in order. The operation involved collaboration with the Environment and Sanitation Agency, the Housing and Settlement Areas Agency, and environmental supervisors.
