Democratic Party Invites Citizens to Protect Coasts Through Cleanup and Mangrove Planting

The DKI Jakarta branch of the Democratic Party is set to host a coastal cleanup and mangrove planting event in the Thousand Islands on August 7, 2026. This initiative aims to preserve coastal ecosystems and mitigate the effects of abrasion. Ali Muhammad Johan, the faction leader of the Democratic Party at the DKI Jakarta Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD), highlighted the importance of collective effort in environmental conservation.

Johan stated that protecting the environment cannot be a solitary endeavor, stressing the necessity of community collaboration. "There is still much work to be done for the residents of the Thousand Islands, for example. Because the Democratic Party was born from the people, we will be present with the people and do good for the people. One of them is that the preservation of coastal areas must be a shared responsibility," he said. The party encourages its cadres, sympathizers, communities, and local residents to participate in this "gotong royong" (mutual cooperation) effort to ensure a clean, green, and sustainable environment for future generations.

This beach cleanup and mangrove planting action is part of the Democratic Party's 25th-anniversary celebrations, themed "Blue Sky Movement, Green Indonesia." In addition to the activities in the Thousand Islands, the party is also organizing various social actions across different areas of Jakarta. The event underscores the party's commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement.
