Bangladesh and China Forge Partnership in Vocational Education

Bangladesh and China are strengthening their ties through a new collaboration focused on advancing technical and vocational education. The two nations have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a joint center dedicated to vocational education, training, and research.

The agreement, inked at the China-Bangladesh Education Exchange Conference in China's Jiangxi province, signifies a commitment to deepening cooperation. This partnership will encompass crucial areas such as teacher training, the development of industry-linked skills, collaborative research initiatives, the creation of bilingual educational materials, and specialized training programs.

Bangladesh's Education Minister, ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon, who led the country's delegation, emphasized the importance of aligning technical and vocational education with the practical demands of industry and the job market. He expressed Bangladesh's keen interest in leveraging China's extensive experience in building a modern, industry-integrated vocational education system and adapting successful practices to meet Bangladesh's specific needs.

Under this framework, both sides intend to collaborate on various fronts. These include developing vocational training programs, creating bilingual teaching resources, fostering educational research, integrating industry and education sectors, facilitating industrial training within Bangladesh, organizing study visits to China, and designing specialized programs for vocational education administrators. The MoU was signed by Md Daud Miah, Secretary of the Technical and Madrasah Education Division, for Bangladesh, and Prof Zheng Pengwu, Vice-President of Jiangxi Science and Technology Normal University, for the Chinese side. Three additional cooperation platforms were also launched during the conference.
