Opposition party to field candidates in every union, vows to challenge ruling government

The National Citizen Party (NCP) is gearing up to contest every union in the upcoming local government elections, signaling a strategic move to bolster its presence and prepare for future national contests. Sarjis Alam, the party's Chief Organizer for the North, announced the ambitious plan, emphasizing the need to form committees at union and ward levels to strengthen the party's organizational base.

To prepare for local elections, it is crucial to form committees to boost our organisational strength at the union and ward levels. That is why we are touring every district. Committees will be established in every union nationwide. This time, we want to announce NCP candidates in every union.

Alam did not hold back in his criticism of the current BNP government, accusing it of heading towards failure while refusing to acknowledge the reality. He pointed to soaring commodity prices, public debt, and persistent shortages of gas and electricity as evidence of the government's shortcomings. "The BNP government is slowly drifting towards failure, yet they refuse to believe or accept it," Alam stated, highlighting the economic struggles faced even by middle-class families.

Initially, we will endorse one candidate per union. Through this process, NCP's growth as a major political party and its preparation for the next national election will be completed.

The NCP leader also called for a healthier democratic environment, criticizing the ruling party for creating a parliament dominated by its own members. He urged the government to accept opposition voices and rectify its actions. "Learn to accept the opposition and let them speak," Alam advised. He pledged support for the government if it worked for the people but vowed to stand with the populace and launch a political struggle if their aspirations were ignored.
