Bangladesh's progress hindered by attempts to silence voices, says minister

Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan declared that Bangladesh's progress has been consistently hampered by efforts to suppress public expression. He asserted that the nation's objective is to build a democratic and institutional state free from such constraints.

Swapan made these remarks during the unveiling of "Shikol Bhangar July," a publication by the Press Information Department (PID). He noted that over five decades since independence, Bangladesh has faced recurring struggles to overcome attempts to silence its people. These suppressions, he explained, have disrupted the country's natural progress and socio-economic continuity, with citizens repeatedly breaking these shackles through significant sacrifices.

Choudhury also revealed that the ministry and its subordinate agencies are actively producing additional publications, documentaries, and digital content focused on the July movement. These initiatives aim to ensure that the movement's true history is conveyed to the younger generation.
