Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo Resigns; Acting Governor Appointed

Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo has resigned, a move officially announced by State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi on Monday. President Prabowo Subianto has accepted Warjiyo's resignation, expressing gratitude for his approximately seven years of service leading the central bank.

The government will now proceed with the administrative process to formally dismiss Warjiyo. According to the Bank Indonesia Law, the Senior Deputy Governor, Destry Damayanti, will step in as the acting governor. She will manage all the duties and authorities of the position until a new governor is definitively appointed through the established regulatory mechanisms.

Warjiyo's tenure at the helm of Bank Indonesia has seen various economic developments, including recent reports on foreign capital inflows, the rupiah's performance against the US dollar, and money supply growth. The central bank has also been navigating global financial conditions, maintaining its benchmark interest rate at 5.75% in an effort to support rupiah stability.
