Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo Resigns for Personal Reasons

The Presidential Palace announced on Monday, July 27, 2026, that Perry Warjiyo has resigned as Governor of Bank Indonesia due to personal reasons. Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi emphasized that there was no pressure from President Prabowo Subianto behind the decision and asked the public to refrain from speculation.

Destry Damayanti, Senior Deputy Governor, revealed that Warjiyo voluntarily resigned on Saturday, July 25, 2026. She was subsequently appointed as the Acting Governor on Sunday, July 26, 2026, in accordance with the Bank Indonesia Law. This appointment ensures the bank's continued efforts to maintain rupiah stability, payment system stability, and financial system stability to support sustainable economic growth.

Damayanti assured that Bank Indonesia would uphold good institutional governance and professionalism. The central bank will continue to synergize and coordinate with the government in fulfilling its mandate.
