Barcelona SC fans engage in brutal aggression in Quito

Brutal physical altercations erupted among Barcelona SC fans outside Quito's Olímpico Atahualpa stadium following the team's 2-1 defeat against Universidad Católica on Tuesday, July 21, 2026. The loss significantly dampened the club's hopes for winning the Liga Pro title this year.

Discontent among supporters was palpable inside the stadium, directed at the coaching staff led by César Farías and the players for their inconsistent performance. However, the most disturbing scenes unfolded outside the venue, where graphic videos of fights among fans quickly went viral on social media.

One video captured two men, one in a yellow Barcelona jersey and another in a black jacket, engaged in a fight on the ground while onlookers cheered them on. Spectators were heard urging them to continue, with phrases like "Hit him, knock him out" and "attack the neck." The fight concluded when the man in the black jacket kicked the other in the face after he got up. Two individuals, seemingly trying to intervene timidly, eventually separated the brawlers.

Another violent incident occurred during an interview with a fan outside the stadium. The same man in the black jacket from the first video, accompanied by a woman, pushed the interviewed fan without apparent provocation. This triggered another fight involving the man in the black jacket, another individual in a black hoodie with the club's crest, and a person wearing a black windbreaker. The attackers used fists and kicks, with the interviewed fan falling to the ground and receiving a kick to the face, rendering him unconscious.
