Raphinha opened the scoring in the 37th minute, capitalizing on a through ball from Pedri and skillfully finishing past Athletic goalkeeper Unai Simon. The Brazilian forward's goal gave Barcelona a crucial 1-0 lead heading into halftime. Barcelona had earlier threatened through Lamine Yamal, whose attempts were thwarted by Simon's impressive saves.

In the second half, Barcelona continued their aggressive approach. Fermin Lopez doubled the lead in the 82nd minute, pouncing on an error by an Athletic defender who failed to clear a cross. Lopez was perfectly positioned to score from close range, sealing the 2-0 victory. The match also marked the debut of Rodri for Barcelona, who replaced Raphinha in the 63rd minute.

Athletic Club had their chances, notably in the 75th minute when Oihan Sancet's shot hit the post.
