Barka vehicle repair workshop fined for poor service

A commercial vehicle repair workshop in Barka has been fined OMR 500 after a court convicted its representative of substandard service. The Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) announced the penalty following a consumer complaint.

The case originated when a customer hired the workshop to repair a vehicle and replace its fuel filter, with a 10-day completion deadline. However, the repairs were not carried out to the required standard, leading to the same fault recurring multiple times. This meant the vehicle remained out of service for extended periods, prompting the customer to file a complaint.

Following legal proceedings, the court found the establishment's representative guilty of failing to provide the agreed service properly and professionally. In addition to the fine, the representative was ordered to cover the costs of the public prosecution. The CPA emphasized its dedication to safeguarding consumers' rights and called on businesses to uphold professional service standards and contractual obligations.
